"innovative products that provide the patient and the prosthetist |
| Animated Prosthetics, Inc. has combined the latest technology in
microcomputers and batteries along with fresh, new design concepts, to create a family of
products that dramatically improve the
function, life, and reliability of the upper- extremity prosthesis. Several years of extensive research, design and testing
have produced many innovative solutions to the problems associated with the prosthesis. A
microcomputer in the system provides new capabilities including energy management, radio
telemetry, and "fine tuning" of the arm to match the skills of the patient. |
|
|
Battery technology pioneered by the company virtually eliminates power related problems, and provides three to four times the energy of previous systems. Additionally, diagnostic tools allow the prosthetist to monitor and configure the prosthesis, even while the patient is wearing it. |
| The products in production today
were tested in a lab environment for a year, then were evaluated and refined over a two
and a half year period on thirty patients. A close working relationship with the great practitioners and technicians at Duke University Medical Center has allowed us to test and analyze all of our designs in real life situations. |
|
|
All mechanical and electronic designs are created with Computer Aided Design (CAD) systems. These tools allow us to increase product quality and reduce development time by allowing multiple design options to be explored, analyzed and tested before committing to a final design. |
| The company performs research, development and manufacturing in a 2500 sq. ft. facility located in Greensboro, North Carolina. |
